One Way Corded Panel Blind
Use the panel size guide chart to match the number of panels/panel sizes to the required blind width (figures in bold are the most suitable panel sizes for corresponding blind width).
Allowances
Recess size: Deduct 10mm on width, 20mm on drop
Blind size: No deductions required
Channel size: Less 30mm (end caps)
Panel width size calculation with 50mm overlap: blind size width + number of overlaps x 50mm (overlaps always one less than the number of panels). This total is then divided by the full number of panels to give you your panel width.
PVC Panel Runner
The Velcro facing you with the wheels at the top determines the face of the PVC
panel.
Each PVC panel runner has a 15mm cut out along the top at the back edge. The front panel runner only has a 28mm cut out at the leading edge and two 4.2mm holes 25mm apart for cords to fit through, approx 50mm along the leading edge.
Runner Wheels
Each panel has at least two plastic runner wheels attached to them.
T Shape Stop
Slide on the plastic T shape stops and attach with a screw to the front edge of each panel.
L Shape Stop
Slide an L shaped stop onto each panel, 50mm in from the trailing edge. No stop is required on the back panel.
Screw Stop
The back panel is fixed into its position by a screw stop that is fitted in the slot of the channel.
Assembly
Feed one screw stop and one panel runner to the back slot of the channel. Feed on the other panels leaving the front two panels off.
Cut your cord 2 x width and 2 x your suggested drop. Feed cord ends through the two 4.2 mm holes and form the cord into a mushroom shape on the Velcro side. Place the cord around the first and second grooves in the headrail for it to locate, then feed the leading panel runner into the headrail, feed the second panel into the headrail.
Feed the cords around the slot of the end cap at the idle end, through the control end and then down through the slot to create the drop. Put the rubber dampers on the end of the end caps and tighten on to the headrail with the screws provided.
Pull the back panel to the end and fix into position with the screw stop.
Panels
Allowances: 20 mm for the headrail and 20mm from the recess - so the panel length is 40mm shorter than the recess drop. Cut your fabric to the required panel width and 100mm longer than the drop. Form into the bottom bar, turn the fabric round and cut off at the top to the size required. Sew your Velcro (loop) to the top of the fabric.
If you are using woven wood as your fabric, attach the bottom bar by either gluing/pinning and then turn the fabric round. Cut to length making sure that the ladder strings are sealed by the glue. Sew your Velcro (loop) to the top of the fabric.
Split Draw Panel Blind
Allowances are exactly the same as one-way draw blinds. The Panel calculation is the same.
PVC Panel Runner
Always have an even number of panels; 3 slot channel is 4 panels, 4 slot channel is 6 panels, 5 slot channel is 8 panels.
A 3 slot channel can be made with a wand only
With a 4 slot channel the headrail has to be reversed, so that the cord slots are at the front of the rail.
Each panel has a 15mm cut out along the top at the back edge. Two panels have 2 x 4.2 mm holes 25mm apart, approx 50mm in from leading edge (one each side, handed like a pair).
Runner Wheels
Each panel has at least two plastic runner wheels attached to them.
T Shaped Stop
Slide on the leading edge of all the panel runners and attach by the screw, the leading two runners have to be cut away to allow them pass each other and overlap.
L Shape Stops
Slide L shaped stops onto each panel, 50mm in from the trailing edge. No stops are required on the back panels.
Screw Stops
Both back panels are fixed into position with the screw stop that is fixed in the slot of the channel.
Assembly
With a split draw blind, your plastic runners are loaded from the back on one side and from the front on the other. This will leave just one panel on the front slot and one panel on the back slot.
Cut your cord 2 x width and 2 x your suggested drop. Feed the cord through one of the 4.2 mm holes in the leading panel and form the cord into a mushroom shape on the Velcro side. With the other end of the cord, feed it in and out of the two holes on the other leading panel, with the loop being on the Velcro side, and then back through the hole in the first leading panel. Form a mushroom shape so it cannot be pulled out.
Place the cord around the first and second grooves in the headrail for it to locate, then feed the leading panel’s runner into the headrail. Feed the rest of the panels into the headrail.
Feed the cords around the slot of the end cap at the idle end, through the control end and down through the slot to create the drop. Put the rubber dampers on the end of the end caps and tighten on to the headrail with the screws provided. Pull back the end panels and fix into position using the screw stops.
Blinds with Wands
The allowance for the end caps is 4mm (not 30mm as for corded blinds). blinds with wands are made as above, but the 4.2mm holes and cord are not required. The wand is attached by clipping it to the leading panel via a drilled hole in the T stop.
